Takahashi Ai Has Officially Graduated From Morning Musume and Hello! Project

After passing the LOVE Audition 21 on 2001-08-26 and having joined Morning Musume as a 5th generation member, as of today 10 years and 1 month will have passed. Now that I think about it, it all went by in a flash. When I think about it, I was always watching ASAYAN back in Fukui, but the airing of the shows, compared to Tokyo, was always about 3 weeks behind… so when I thought about applying, I always missed the deadlines, but when the 5th gen audition came around, one of my friends spotted the ad for it in a newspaper and that led me to apply. Looking back at that me eventually becoming the leader for 4 years and 4 months even surprises me.

When I first joined, I was often scolded. The 5th gen members were often usually the last ones to leave at dance lessons. The 4 5th gen members were always together so one of the staff guys came to us and said “You should watch and learn from the 4th gen, you guys need to stand out more individually. Don’t always be so group-minded.” We were told that a lot, and it made us cry. It was tough, but I believe because of that the bond between the 5th gen was strengthened even further. Around the same time when I was down about having no character, I started as a semi-regular guest for the Young town radio show and got to meet Sanma-san and Shouji-san every week. Since it was radio, I felt like I needed to speak but when I did I got a lot of “Your accent is so strong you can’t make it as an actress”, but before I knew it I became stronger, and I felt like I developed part of my personality, and to that I would like to thank Sanma-san.

One of my fondest memories was the first time I was given a solo part in “Souda! We’re ALIVE”. It was my first time so I was really happy, and it was a very powerful song so I completely remember going to the recording studio looking to sing with a lot of energy. I sang all out on that and before I knew it everything was done and the staff guys handed me the finished product. When I listened to the CD and hear my voice, the image was completely different from what I had imagined at the time I was singing. It was really childish and kinda bad but I was still happy anyway.

After deciding on to graduate and annoucing it in January of this year, time has passed by so much faster than ever before, and as I moved towards my graduation, every time a new graduation event came up it wasn’t painful, but rather made me love Morning Musume even more. Right now I am really glad to have become a Morning Musume member. When I became leader, I was really worried, but Tsunku-san said to me “You should make Morning Musume a Takahashi-styled cosy feeling group”. Because of those words, we have the family-like Morning Musume that we have now.

Sayu, Reina, Aika, Fukuchan, Ikuta, Sayashi, Suzuki… thank you for following such an unreliable leader. I’ve only been a leader for the 10th gen for 2 days but thank you too.

Gaki-san, sorry for graduating before you. But knowing you Gaki-san, I have full faith you will make a brand new Morning Musume.

My precious members, the love of the staff, and most important of all the support from all you fans… I am truly grateful. During the bus tour we had in Fukui a little while ago the fans threw a surprise and read thank you letters to me, that was truly the best. Thank you to everyone who listen to our songs at home or on the road. I will treasure the moments I have spent with you guys at concerts and fan club tours and events. And because I have these treasured moments, I will continue to work hard. Thank you.

Ogawa Saki Officially Graduates From S/mileage And H!P

Today August 27 marks the last day of Ogawa Saki as a member of S/mileage and Hello! Project.
After S/mileage’s 3 consecutive release events for their 6th, and last 4nin single together Uchouten LOVE, Ogawa Saki will officially graduate and won’t be a part of the H!P family anymore, as well as having her blog closed in order for her to pursue the normal life she seeks by focusing on her studies.
As a big S/mileage fan, I really have to say that it tears my heart to see one of the original members leave so soon and so quickly without previous notice, and Sakitty has always been my favorite S/mileage member so this is a very sad event for me, even though as a true Sakitty fan, I think I, as well as everyone, should keep on supporting her with all of our hearts.
Following is a detailed post with many thoughts about her 7 years of activity in H!P, her years in S/mileage, etc… as well as many information and pictures concerning their last day together and their last events, so please check it out after the break!
First of all, following are detailed info with pictures, all posted by S/mileage Staff on Twitter, concerning their last event that was held today, and a small mention is that it seems that a fan asked them if they could stream the event live on Ustream for fans to enjoy Sakitty’s last performance with the group, but unfortunately they responded that it couldn’t be done, but later on to everyone’s surprise, the stream was actually broadcasted for the last performance live without any notice.

Here are pictures of the rehearsal on stage of the girls before the first performance that ended up nicely, as well as them performing their original B-side Jitensha Chiririn, and I have to say that I would have loved to hear that song being performed live during a concert with those 4 members since it’s now one of my favorite songs by them thanks to the awesome instrumental and calm sound it had.
After the first event and second one finished cleanly, S/mileage Staff also tweeted pictures of their last lunch together, and all of the girls seem really happy and seem to want to enjoy every single moment they have left together, while building up energy for their third and last performance (fans also mentioned that Sakitty was smiling the whole time), and I’m impressed by how professional the girls are being, doing their best in those performances while still being able to do goofy things and laugh around at lunch time, knowing it’s their last together.

The third event also started and ended nicely with reports from fans who watched the stream that the girls were all very emotional and all started crying, but Sakitty was extremely thankful to everyone who came, and fans surprised her with a sea of green glow sticks as a farewell.

As for Sakitty, since all of her fans must be terribly sad, I think we should see the positive thing about the graduation, which is the wonderful 7 years she has spent in H!P entertaining us with her amazing talent, strong voice and energetic character.

Saki joined the H!P Eggs at the age of 7 in 2004 and was a promising Egg to then graduate from Eggs alongside her S/mileage friends in the Spring of 2010 to debut officially within the group; there is no doubt that since she was young, her skills were obvious and got many fans wondering what will she do later on, and I’m amazed by the changes her appearance and her voice undertook since Sakitty went from being a cute 7 year old to a young and fresh lady nowadays.

Her improvement and devotion within H!P Eggs and S/mileage are definitely to be remembered since she always pushed herself to achieve the best of things and make her fans happy, and there is no doubt that she shined alongside the other members, so please enjoy her first official PV within S/mileage in their indie single aMa no Jaku, their major debut Yume Miru 15sai as well as their last single with her Uchouten LOVE that is, until now, their highest selling single:

Tsunku’s Statement
This is the comment regarding Takahashi Ai’s graduation from Morning Musume
Thank you for your continual support as always.
As announced directly herself on the stage of January 9th’s show at Nakano Sunplaza,
5th generation member, Takahashi Ai will be graduating from both Morning Musume and Hello! Project in Morning Musume’s concert tour this fall.
When the proposal for Kamei Eri’s graduation was made last year,
I told Takahashi Ai, “It’s about time you should consider the timing of your own graduation and what you want to pursuit afterward” as an advice.
The 5th generation members will have joined Morning Musume for 10 years.
Takahashi Ai is the 6th leader and has been in this position for 3 years and 7 months.
Takahashi Ai holds the record for being the longest in the group and the longest to hold the leader position.
Looking back, she has honestly carried the responsibility for all this time.
(In no disrespect to all former members and leaders of the group…excuse me)
I have talked with her about various things, such as her activities afterward
As announced in the new year concert, her graduation will be in Morning Musume’s Autumn concert tour,
this was the right time to make the announcement.
Since there are still more than half a year to go,
the 9th generation members have to familiarize themselves with Morning Musume’s music
and dances, to become self aware that they are part of the group.
Takahashi plans to properly finish her job as leader in the mean time.
Please be looking forward to what will become of Morning Musume.
Takahashi Ai will continue to be active in music, theater, and live events after her graduation.
Details will gradually be released.
Also, after Takahashi Ai’s graduation, Niigaki Risa will assume the leader position of the group,
and become the longest active member of Morning Musume

It has been decided that, I, Takahashi Ai, during Morning Musume’s concert tour this Autumn,
will be graduating from Morning Musume and Hello! Project.
At the time when Kamei Eri, JunJun and LinLin’s graduations were decided,
Tsunku-san told me, “It’s about time Takahashi should think about your own graduation’s timing!”
which has gotten me thinking.
I will have been in Morning Musume for 10 years comes this August,
So I thought it will be a good time! to graduate in the Autumn Morning Musume concert tour.
As there are still around 9 months left, I will do my best as leader until that time to shape up this new Morning Musume.
I will be affectionate to the newly added 9th generation members as I try to teach them various things, everyone please rest assured.
